Jezero (Mid-Fire Red Stoneware)
Jezero is a bold mid-fire red stoneware with medium grog and a toothy texture, making it an excellent choice for both throwing and handbuilding. In our electric oxidation kilns at Cone 6, it fires to a rich, earthy red.
The added grog provides strength and stability for larger forms, sculptural work, and handbuilt pieces that benefit from structure and reduced slumping.
Firing: Cone 6 (electric oxidation)
Average Shrinkage: ~13%
Absorption Rate: ~3.07%
Texture: Medium grog, toothy
With approximately 13% shrinkage, finished pieces will reduce noticeably in size from wet to fired state. Be sure to account for this when planning fitted pieces or specific dimensions.
At 3.07% absorption, this clay remains within functional stoneware range when properly fired and glazed. Fully glaze functional ware to ensure durability and water resistance.
All clay fired in the studio must be purchased through Heart & Hearth to ensure consistent results and protect kiln integrity.
